    Youths MMA Class

    Our Youths MMA Class consists of a fun and exciting mix of martial arts (incorporating the Kickboxing and Boxing (stand up) with the ground work delivered in a way that is both dynamic and engaging for your child.

    When it comes to your child’s training and development, they deserve the very best. Watch their confidence grow and know that the skills they learn will help keep them safe in today’s world.

    Our objective is to enhance positive development in a fun and motivating way, whilst helping each individual child enter into society with a more confident and enthusiastic outlook – focused to achieve any goal he or she sets in life.

      Shaun James has been training for the past 23 years in martial arts and Kickboxing. He got his first black belt in Freestyle Taekwondo at the age of 11, moving into Kickboxing at the age of 18 then he was awarded his black belt in Kickboxing at the age of 20 under his instructor Trevor Ambrose. In 2002 he went on to win the British Title in full contact Kickboxing. His fight career has included Boxing as well as Kickboxing which has even been screened on Sky Sports. He has been teaching for the last 15 years, children and adults from complete beginners to title winners. !!

    Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu

    Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a martial art, combat sport, and a self defense system that focuses on grappling and especially ground fighting. Brazilian jiu-jitsu was formed from Kodokan Judo ground fighting fundamentals that were taught to Carlos Gracie and Luiz França by Mitsuyo Maeda and Soshihiro Satake. Carlos Gracie is known as the Founder and Creator of Modern Jiu Jitsu (Gracie Jiu Jitsu/Brazilian Jiu Jitsu). Brazilian jiu-jitsu eventually came to be its own art through the experimentations, practices, and adaptation from the Judo knowledge of Carlos and Hélio Gracie, who then passed their knowledge on to their extended family.

    BJJ promotes the concept that a smaller, weaker person can successfully defend against a bigger, stronger assailant by using proper technique, leverage, and most notably, taking the fight to the ground, and then applying joint-locks and chokeholds to defeat the other person. BJJ training can be used for sport grappling tournaments (gi and no-gi) and mixed martial arts (MMA) competition or self-defense. Sparring (commonly referred to as “rolling”) and live drilling play a major role in training, and a premium is placed on performance, especially in competition, in relation to progress and ascension through its ranking system.

    Since its inception in 1882, its parent art of Judo was separated from older systems of Japanese ju-jitsu by an important difference that was passed on to Brazilian jiu-jitsu: it is not solely a martial art, it is also a sport; a method for promoting physical fitness and building character in young people; and, ultimately, a way (Do) of life.

    Impact Boxing/Kickboxing Boot Camps are a way of getting fit, into shape and getting an all over body workout whilst having lots of fun but with hard work chucked into the mix.

    We have circuits, sessions on the bags, pad work, running, skipping, ab workout, muscle toning, weights and alot more in these sessions!!  All ages and all fitness levels are welcome – we tailor your workout to your level so these can be from beginners to the advanced and we make sure everyone will get a good sweat on.

    You will also learn the moves and techniques of kickboxing and boxing without the contact – so train like a pro without the blows!!

    We aim to provide you with well rounded training: as well as technique and skills, you will gain the speed, flexibility, and core strength needed to grow and excel in this sport. Our kickboxing classes cater to all levels from complete beginner to the more experienced in kickboxing. You can take pure technique classes or learn to spar with people of a similar skill level to you.

    Boxing (Adults)

    Boxing is one of the most demanding but also most rewarding forms of exercise training. It conditions your entire body and provides one of the most challenging and enjoyable workouts of any sport. The physiological as well as psychological benefits of boxing are extensive. These include increased self discipline and self confidence, increased agility, speed, coordination, endurance and strength.

    Unlike most forms of training, reflexes are also improved and skills are learnt. Boxing is a high intensity full-body workout that will make you physically stronger as well as aerobically and anaerobically fitter. It is a complete workout for your cardiovascular and endurance systems as well as training upper body, lower body and core strength. Calorie expenditure and fat burning are very elevated during boxing as it is such a high intensity workout utilizing large muscle groups and constantly keeps you moving. Boxing does not tend to add muscle bulk as much as tone and define muscle because it involves such high repetitions. Boxing is a workout that can accommodate for all levels of strength and fitness and can be enjoyed by beginner to advanced participants. Drills can easily be modified to increase or decrease intensity and complexity of the workout.

    Sparring Class

    Sparring Class is for all levels for current members only.  We recommend you have at least 1 month or more of training before you are ready for this class or alternatively you can speak to either Nina and Shaun and discuss when we are ready.

    Sparring class is putting all your training into the other classes into practice, this is the contact side of the sport.  You will learn how to defend, block as well as sparring against other people.  Also we will have fighters training in this class but don’t worry you aren’t required to fight them!!

    There are no big ego’s and everyone is there is help one another whilst learning and practicing the contact side of Kickboxing and Boxing
